Taru Savolainen - Project Officer
ON MATERNITY LEAVE
Taru Savolainen works as Project Officer in CMI’s "Foresight for Conflict Prevention in the Middle East” project. The three-year project initiated in early 2010 is being implemented in cooperation with CMI and local partner think tanks in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. During the project, high-level government officials, advisors and civil society actors identify economic, socio-political and environmental trends that could cause conflicts, analyze relations and linkages between them and develop policy recommendations aiming at preventing the indentified conflict potential from materializing.
Ms. Savolainen assists in the project’s implementation, especially in organizing events, budget monitoring and project reporting. Before joining CMI, Taru has worked, among other places, as an intern at the Finnish Embassy in Damascus, project coordinator at Think tank e2 and political assistant at the Finnish Parliament. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from the University of Helsinki and is currently working on her Master’s thesis. Taru has also studied at the University of Münster in Germany.
