CMI Builds Bridges between Yemen’s Political Stakeholders

Within the framework of its Supporting National Dialogue and Confidence Building Project, CMI has convened an informal meeting of various Yemeni political stakeholders in Istanbul on 25-26.10.2011.

By providing a neutral platform, CMI facilitated the encounter of 30 Yemeni political actors and provided a space for dialogue on transition of the political system in Yemen. During the workshop, divergent political forces created mutual confidence, consensus, trust and fresh thinking on possible solutions to lay the foundations for a stable and inclusive Yemen.

During a two year period (2011-2013) CMI will support Yemeni political stakeholders’ dialogue in order to enable the formulation of concrete policy recommendations in key policy areas, which would constitute a consensus for joint action influencing the process of reforming the political system in Yemen. The process is future oriented, and is not meant to tackle issues related to power transfer arrangements in Yemen.
