CMI Takes Part in the First Ever Finnish Internet Forum (8.9.2010)

Crisis Management Initiative is taking part in the first Finnish Internet Forum organized with an aim to discuss novel social platforms in peace mediation. The event is open to public through a discussion forum, where participants can comment on the presentations and panel discussion as it takes place.

The Forum is organized in the Parliament house in Helsinki on the 20 September in cooperation with the Parliamentary Committee of the Future, the Information Society Group of the Parliament, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport and Communications, ISOC Finland and The Finnish Information Society Development Centre (TIEKE).  It aims to facilitate discussion on various topics around internet governance and development. 

Crisis Management Initiative organizes an afternoon-long session on the first day of the Forum with chosen partners from the field of information technology to discuss novel social platforms in peace mediation.

CMI has invited representatives from Grey Area Labs and Sulake Corporation to present their social network platforms. After the presentations, a panel of experts will discuss the possibilities of adapting these applications into the practice of peace mediation.

CMI ottaa osaa ensimmäiseen Finnish Internet Foorumiin eduskunnassa

Crisis Management Initiative osallistuu ensimmäiseen Suomen Internetfoorumiin, joka toimii kansainvälisiä Internet Governance Forumeja täydentävänä tapahtumana. Yleisö voi ottaa osaa tapahtumaan Finnish Internet Forumin sivuilla reaaliajassa.

Tapahtuman yhteistyökumppaneita ovat Eduskunnan tulevaisuusvaliokunta ja tietoyhteiskuntaryhmä, ulkoasiainministeriö, liikenne- ja viestintäministeriö, Suomen Internet-yhdistys (ISOC Finland) ja Tietoyhteiskunnan kehityskeskus TIEKE. Tapahtuma on Suomessa ensimmäinen laatuaan, ja se keskittyy Internetin hallintaan ja kehitykseen liittyviin kysymyksiin.

CMI järjestää tapahtuman ensimmäisenä päivänä iltapäiväsession, johon on kutsuttu edustajat Sulake- ja Grey Area Labs –yhtiöistä esittelemään heidän sosiaalisia verkkoalustojaan. Näiden esitysten jälkeen seuraa asiantuntijapaneelin keskustelu, jossa pohditaan alustojen mahdollista soveltamista rauhanvälitykseen.

Eduskunnassa järjestettävä tapahtuma on kutsuvierastilaisuus, mutta foorumista järjestetään videolähetys Internetissä ja yleisöllä on mahdollisuus lähettää kommenttejaan keskustelupalstan kautta. Yksityiskohtaiset ohjeet löytyvät lähempänä tapahtumaa Internetfoorumin sivuilta (www.internetforum.fi).
